Class ’61 50th Reunion Steering Committee Meeting Summary

The Class of ’61 50th Reunion Steering Committee met on April 24 to continue planning for the 2011 events. We are far from our goal of $200,000. Many classmates have not yet made a pledge. Thus far, only 45 of the 175 classmates on the mailing list have made a pledge. Total pledges equal $127,700 with $7539 received to date.
A new letter will go to classmates this summer to solicit additional pledges and to encourage us to begin paying our pledges. Sandra Randolph will order more HU pins that we can sell to help raise our pledge. Contact Sandra if you are interested. There will be a 50/50 Raffle during Homecoming weekend. Steering Committee members will have 10 books each to sell. Ralph Gofney agreed to explore other fundraising options. Next meeting will be on Alumni Day.

Thomas Curbean

Thomas Curbean had emergency surgery last Thursday (May 14th) to repair a leak in the stent in his aorta (He had an aneurysm in is abdominal aorta in 2005). They put a stent in, and it was fine up until last week). Because of the damage, the doctor knew going into the surgery he would loose the use of his kidneys. The doctor didn't think he would make it through the surgery. Curbean did make it through surgery but, he hasn't really come through - that is he never really gained consciousness. Curbean is now in Hospice at Northwest Hospital, Baltimore County.

Keep him in your prayers.
